Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled right on the iconic Venice Beach boardwalk, The Sidewalk Cafe offers a vibrant American restaurant and bar & grill experience that perfectly captures the laid-back yet lively spirit of Southern California. This beloved beachfront spot is not just a place to grab a meal; it’s a full sensory experience where fresh ocean breezes mingle with tantalizing aromas from the kitchen, creating an irresistible invitation to relax and indulge.

The menu is a celebration of classic American flavors elevated with a thoughtful touch, making it a haven for breakfast lovers and casual diners alike. Morning favorites like the Venice Breakfast Bowl, with poached eggs nestled atop Venice potatoes and fresh spinach, come alive with your choice of spicy ranchero or velvety homemade hollandaise sauce—each bite harmonious and comforting. Or start your day with the Bagel & Lox Plate, a beautifully balanced combination of silky Nova lox, toasted bagel, and crisp vegetables, perfect for savoring with a view of the ocean waves.

If you prefer to linger over sweet and savory delights, the “Off the Griddle” options delight the palate. The fluffy pancakes and crispy Belgian waffles, dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon, offer a gentle sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the hearty savoriness of the Pancake Breakfast, featured alongside eggs and Venice potatoes. And for those craving bold flavors, the breakfast burritos such as the spicy pork sausage Chorizo Burrito or the hearty Tsunami Burrito—loaded with bacon, sausage, eggs, and cheese and smothered in homemade ranchero sauce—bring satisfying warmth and spice to each bite.

The Sidewalk Cafe truly shines as a perfect spot to soak in the quintessential Venice Beach vibe. The atmosphere buzzes with an easy, friendly energy where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy classic bar bites and refreshing drinks. Regular patrons rave about the rich, juicy Bacon Blue Cheese Burger, a masterclass in savory indulgence, combining smoky bacon with tangy blue cheese in a perfectly cooked patty. And no visit is complete without tasting the expertly crafted cocktails—highlighted by the “bomb” Bloody Mary, garnished luxuriously with bacon, olives, celery, and fresh fruit, or the strong and refreshing Mai Tais that nicely complement the oceanfront setting.

Guests consistently praise the spacious portions, rich flavors, and attentive service that elevate the dining experience here. Even amid a bustling beachfront scene, the staff’s professionalism and genuine warmth make every visit feel special. Whether you’re seeking a lively lunch by the sea, a relaxing brunch after a morning bike ride along the coast, or a casual dinner with friends, The Sidewalk Cafe offers a memorable dining escape filled with familiar comforts and delicious surprises.

Nice spot right on Venice Beach with a great vibe. We just stopped by quickly, but the atmosphere was fun and the location is perfect. Good place to relax and enjoy the beachfront.

This place is an iconic Venice beach institution. They serve classic American dishes at a perfect beachfront location for people watching. We had biked 7 miles and were feeling a Bloody Mary and some bar bites. Hasn’t been here in years but gave it a go. Bomb Bloody Mary comes with bacon, olives, celery, orange slide and pineapple slice. So good! And micheladas are delicious too. Same for the buffalo wings. Staff are nice and the crowd is diverse and entertaining. Highly recommend for a casual bite to eat with a side of people watching.

Had a late lunch here while walking along Venice Beach. We had the chips with guacomole and salsa. Guac was homemade and delicious, not a fan of their salsa (it was too watery). We also had their Chinese chicken salad and it was okay. I just feel like there was too much dressing that made the veggies a bit soggy. We enjoyed the smoked brisket though, it was full of flavor and the fries were well seasoned. Service was good. Ambience was great and vibrant. There's a busker by the street and he played cool songs.

The Sidewalk Cafe is truly one of my favorite places to eat, and their Bacon Blue Cheese Burger proves exactly why. The burger was spot-on — juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The combination of smoky, crispy bacon with the bold tang of blue cheese is unreal. Every bite hits with that rich, savory flavor that makes this burger stand out from anywhere else. The atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming, and the service is consistently friendly and attentive. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable settling in and enjoying a great meal every time. If you love a good burger with serious flavor, the Bacon Blue Cheese Burger is a must-try. It’s one more reason this spot remains at the top of my favorites list.

Good sized portions for the food. Thought that we could take this down without any trouble. Got halfway and wasn't able to. Lots of different options to choose from. The pasta is very rich in flavor. The pizza was good but got a little oily at the end. Mai Tai's are nice and strong. Can't beat the atmosphere here. The wait staff is very professional.

The beer is cold and the food is pretty decent. The place is a little run down, but so is most of Venice Beach. This is probably a great place during summer afternoons to enjoy a cold drink. I experienced dinner on a Weds (1/14/26) January...a time where some grime isn't as easily overlooked as a peak summer day. The Cali BLT was quite good and they had a wide selection of beers. I ate at the bar and both bartenders were attentive and friendly. Bottom line, good spot for a drink, and surprisingly good food.

Had a great time here having some brunch before heading back home. The food was so delicious I dont usually order eggs Benedict but saw quite a few tables with them so I decided to try it and it was the best one I have ever had. Service was great from start to finish and sitting along the sidewalk and being close to the beach and smelling the fresh air was amazing and just watching all the people go by and the street vendors and performers setting up and had a guy singing some awesome music. Definitely will be coming here every time im in town. Thank you guys

The restaurant was really good! The pizza was amazing one of the best I’ve had. The only downside is that the tip isn’t optional, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, great experience overall!
